City Life Stroller

The goal of this design was to solve three common issues when having a child in a major city; center of gravity, movability, and space. The center of gravity is involved with the stroller tipping when a child exits the stroller, from additional weight, and the front wheel pivoting over a bump or crack. Parents and caretakers must be able to maneuver the randomness that is the city, traveling up and down subway and apartment stairs, tipping the stroller and child to get over a ledge. Lastly, young parents most likely live in a small apartment where they need all the space they can get.

Our solution was to have a stroller with two modes. Mode 1 is meant as the child’s first stroller. Once the child is about 14 months old and ready for their next one, Mode 2 satisfies this requirement. A large storage compartment housed under the child allows for additional bags without risk of tipping, and the two wheels in the front aid in the scenario that the front wheel pivots. Movability is solved with a three-wheel system on the back axis to make dealing with stairs easier. The stroller decreases in sized when it is switched from Mode 1 to 2 with collapsible support bars.
